Gianduja Dark chocolate: Organic - Vegan - Gluten-Free!

World Vegan Month actually happens in NOVEMBER ... but the last few months (during Covid-19) our online sales of vegan chocolate have been enormous, so we wanted to share with you something a little bit extra special because if you haven't heard about Monsieur Truffe's Gianduja Dark chocolate - then WOW it's time you did!!!!

For those of you who are yet to meet this decadent treat, Gianduja Dark is a smooth mix of dark chocolate and a pure hazelnut paste. ... Gianduja Dark is a semi-solid cream that has been described by one of our customers as, "top shelf Nutella in a hard pack" and by another, "looks like a block of cheese, tastes like heaven".

There's a little bit of history to Gianduja which is fascinating; The Continental System – imposed by Napoleon in 1806 – prevented British goods from entering European ports under French control, which put a strain on cocoa supplies far and wide, so Michele Prochet, a chocolatier in Turin, Northern Italy, extended the little chocolate he had by mixing it with hazelnuts from the Langhe hills, just south of Turin. Gianduja's name comes from a carnival and marionette character who represents the archetypal Piedmontese, a native of the Italian region where hazelnut confectionery is common. It's special, it's steeped in history, and as soon as you take your first mouthful, you'll feel the back story. It's delicious, decadent and delightful.

Dark Chocolate Gianduja is special, there's always a shortage of the hazelnuts which are hard to source, and in a nut-shell, (intentional pun!) it's top-shelf Nutella in a hard pack. 

Monsieur Truffe's dark gianduja is made with organic ingredients and comes wrapped in environmentally-friendly packaging. They use recycled paper, wrapping everything the old-fashioned way, by hand.
